Introducing Life Coaching
The majority of you reading this are mothers – and that means that I am speaking to Superwomen! Many of you will be jugging many different balls at once – there are homes, careers/ running own businesses, children, spouses, finances, health issues, extra murals, lifts etc. The question I wish to ask you is: In the midst of all of this – are you nurturing and taking time for yourself? Many women that I chat to are feeling that the essence of them is lost in the hectic world they lead. Someone I am working with cried in frustration that she doesn’t even know what she likes any more. Balance is something that we all need in our lives – but is often what eludes us most. The frightening thing is that you, Superwoman, are actually able to carry on for quite sometime, not caring for yourself – but eventually, the wheels fall off. You can only truly nurture others if you nurture yourself first and foremost. by Kirsten Long
When last did you sit down and dream a little? What is it you want or would like to achieve or be? When last did you sit down and plan to make your dreams come true? This is the most important thing you can do for yourself, but somehow there is no time.
As a Life Coach I deal with 3 kinds of people:
Those who know what they don’t want, but not what they want
Those who know what they want, but don’t know how to get there
Those who know what they want, and how to get there, but progress is too slow
Which one are you?
The beauty about Life Coaching is that it is a forward-looking process. So things are going to change, and this brings about a momentum which gives rise to even more and better changes. At a very basic level, coaching is about setting goals, and working out how to achieve them. At a deeper level, self exploration and increased awareness are high on the agenda. Coaching is non-directive, so the solutions come from you - after all you have the answers that are correct for you. Coaching does not involve being told what to do or how to do it; rather it helps you to find your own way to achieve your dreams. It is a facilitation process, as well as, an action-oriented process. So what you will get out of it is CHANGE, and once change is set in motion then you are able to achieve your dreams.
All you need is a commitment to yourself and to the coaching process.
Life Coaching is, as the title implies, not restricted to careers only, but to any aspect of one’s life. The possibilities are endless:
-a housewife who decides to ride the Argus;
-a student wishing to better his grades;
-a person wishing to improve key relationships and/or communication skills;
-a person who is too busy and needs more time for spiritual endeavors;
-a business man looking for balance in his life;
-a new manager who is struggling to ‘manage’ staff etc.
So what is your plan for balancing your life, and when will you achieve it?
