Delta Park School
DELTA PARK SCHOOL
The medium of teaching is English and learners are expected to also do Afrikaans first additional language. Delta Park follows the National Curriculum and learners in Gr 9 and 12 are expected to write the Departmental exams, as they do in mainstream schools. Gr 1 learners follow the Foundations of Learning, as stipulated by the Department of Education.
The school offers a nurturing environment with smaller classes, individual attention and specialized teaching. Multi-disciplinary teams consisting of Occupational -, Speech- and Remedial therapists are involved with Grades 1-6 and they will assist should the need arise in Gr 7-12.
The subjects learners can choose from at the end of Gr 9 are more career orientated and most of the subjects have a practical component. English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional, Mathematical Literacy (no core Mathematics) and Life Orientation are compulsory. Subjects to choose from: Engineering Graphics and Design, Mechanical Technology, Computer Applications Technology, Dramatic Arts, Visual Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Business Studies.
Although we are a LSEN school we have been one of the top 10 schools (including mainstream schools) over the past two years.
We offer athletics, soccer, netball, cross country and is actively involved in the National Eisteddfod.
