Let’s get Ready! Cards A workshop for parents and teachers of 3 to 8 year olds.

Bring any pack of cards ...bridge, snap, Uno etc, an egg box.. half dozen, 18 or 36, dice and a cereal box. If you don’t have any of the listed items, don’t panic! I will have a few spare!

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed Saturday’s card workshop and learned such a LOT!!!!!!!!!

My kids are loving the games and I am loving the time with them and seeing them enjoying a simple pack of cards. My girls are aged 3 and 7 and each have their own pack of cards and play their own games on each side of mommy (me desperately trying to keep up with each game on either side of me of matching, sorting, addition or subtraction).

Thank you to you for such a practical, effective workshop on playing with cards. So many of the little ones that I see require a lot of development in all areas of visual perception and your workshop really 'kick started' my thinking here. What is wonderful is how it also facilitates interaction between care-giver and child both in preparing cards and while playing - I've noticed over and over again with my clients that when mom or dad make the time to be present and connected while playing/learning, rather than 'just there in body' the rate of development is so much greater. Basic number concepts and much, much more need to be developed from an early age. This workshop is about whole child development. What can you do to set your child up for success in a relaxed, calm manner. Positive habits = successful results. Vocabulary is so important! The child needs to experience this... more than, less than, before, after, between, how many more, how many less, smaller than, bigger than etc should be part of everyday conversations. So should questions like: Where did we go first? What happened next? How many are there altogether? How many are left? Who has more? Who has the most? Which pile/group has less? Our children need practical, hands on experience using what they have at home. They need the language to play up a storm. Do you know how to do that? If not, come play!
